A Historic
Foundation.
Valour is more than a club — it's a new chapter for fencing in Canada.

Redefining Who
Fencing Belongs To
Valour Fencing Club is the first Black-owned fencing club in Canadian history. Founded by Luis Patterson — a 2× Pan American champion and decorated international competitor — Valour exists to break the barriers that have kept this sport from reaching the communities that deserve it most.
We are rooted in history yet driven by innovation. We honor the tradition of fencing while reimagining who gets to be part of it — and where the sport goes next in Canada.
We believe in stepping forward when it's hard. Every bout, every class, every conversation about equity in this sport takes courage.
Fencing has historically been an exclusive sport. We are here to change that. Everyone deserves access to world-class training.
For your opponent, your coach, your sport, and yourself. Respect is the foundation everything else is built on.

The Club
Champions in the making — every one of them.

We Compete.
We Represent.
Valour athletes train and compete at tournaments across Canada and internationally. From local club competitions to national-level events, our fencers represent the club — and prove that where you train matters.
Under Luis Patterson's coaching, students at every level develop the technical precision and mental toughness to compete with confidence.
“To blend professional training with community growth — redefining how athletes train, compete, and represent themselves in the sport of fencing.”
