  • Yes. Fencing is one of the safest Olympic combat sports. All sessions are coached, structured, and follow strict standards with protective equipment provided.

  • Absolutely. Adults are welcome at all levels, from beginner to competitive athletes.

  • Classes are currently held at BCIT Recreational Services in Burnaby. Full location details are available on our Classes page.

  • Pricing varies by program ( drop-in, monthly membership, HP classes, and private lessons ). Full pricing is listed on the website, but feel free to reach out if you’re unsure which option is best.

  • Yes. We provide fencing equipment for beginners ad members while they get started. Members are encouraged to transition to their own equipment over time, and we are happy to guide you on what to buy.

  • Wear athletic clothing, indoor sport shoes, and bring a water bottle. All fencing-specific equipment is provided.

  • HP classes are designed for athletes who want additional training, competitive preparation, and higher-intensity sessions. These classes are optional and separate from regular group classes.

  • Private Lessons are beneficial at any stage. Many students start once they understand the basics, while competitive athletes use them for technical refinement and performance development.

  • Yes. Private lessons are available by request and can be scheduled around group classes, depending on availability.

  • No. Competition is optional. Many students fence recreationally, while others choose to compete locally, nationally or internationally.

  • Yes. Valour Fencing Club operates with proper insurance and follows all safety and organizational standards required for coaching and facility use.
